Get The Look | Endless Summer Whites

Well it’s come down to those final warm days here in Chicago before fall fully sets in. I am embracing the last rays of summer and taking major inspiration from Pinterest to re-create the look below. While I am a fan of wearing our crisp white Hudson Blazer year-round, there is just nothing better than pairing the refined blazer with the best pair of worn-in denim cutoffs and adding an edgy stiletto. Should temps reach the 70s this weekend I know exactly what I would want to wear out for date night!

Get the Look | Boyfriend Chic

Weekends have been busier than ever around here (especially with a 6 year old AND 4 month old) … so for a look that’s comfy yet still pulled together I’ve been embracing boyfriend chic.  I love pairing broken-in, super comfy boyfriend jeans with a fitted blazer, drapey tee, and big scarf.  For a casual dinner out – I love it with the french-girl inspired d’orsay pump.  But the look is also versatile enough to work with your favorite pair of boots (I live in THESE)  or sneaks (love THESE).

A Few of our Favorites | A Colorful Workspace

As you know, we have recently been working with Erin to design our new space in Chicago! We don’t have a firm open date yet, but plan to do so this coming Fall, which coincides nicely with back-to-school time and what I like to think of as dress-your-desk season. Once we transition to the new space, each member of the 2PB team will have her own new desk/workspace, and I’m pretty excited to pick up some new desktop accessories for mine! Recently I’ve been inspired by the fresh, bright style of some of my favorites including Carly, Mackenzie and Julia. Each of these ladies pairs pops of color so well. Luckily our new space will be super clean & fresh with lots of white walls & natural light, so a few well-placed colorful accessories will really add some life to the space!

I had so much fun pulling together some of my favorite desk accessories to infuse color into your workspace – check out my picks (and some of the workspaces I <3) below!

Friday Finds

Friday Finds 8.22.2014

Who doesn’t love a special delivery on their doorstep? Here’s a round-up of a few stylish deliveries that we love.

1// I just signed up for my first RocksBox & it’s amazing! RocksBox is a great option for jewelry addicts like myself – you take a quiz to determine your jewelry style profile and their expert stylists hand pick three pieces to send your way each month to try & keep for as long as you like.  When you’re ready for a refresh, send your pieces back and you’ll get 3 more (or if you absolutely love your pieces you can keep them at a 15% retail discount). They carry great lines including pieces from including Loren Hope, House of Harlow & more.

2//  How adorable is this new line Mac + Mia for the kiddos? They send you a thoughtful box of handpicked treasures for your little guy or girl to wear, from PJs to special occasion outfits & everything in-between!  I love special one-of-a-kind pieces for my little guys but have zero time to shop for them (especially with a 6 week old baby) – this saves me time and is so beautifully curated.  My first box arrived and was filled with sweet pieces for my littlest man.  It’s a great option for busy mammas (aka ALL mamas).  You can keep the pieces you like and send the rest back in return for some fresh picks the next month.

3// Birchbox is always a favorite in the 2pb offices! Who can resist their amazingly curated boxes of beauty samples?  Last month our uber talented friends Danielle & Alaina of The Everygirl  teamed up with the ladies over at Birchbox. They culled a special-edition box full of their favorite affordable luxuries, including a favorite eyeliner from Benefit, an amazing Harvey Prince scent and more! Birchbox is continuing to offer their special edition boxes going forward, and this month’s is just as exciting!

4// Another fun mail-order discovery: Darby Smart takes all planning out of DIY (the part that always trips me up) so you can focus on the good stuff.  You choose a project from their extensive list of ideas (including DIY shibori pillows, agate pendant, etched glassware & more) and they will send you a box with ALL of the components so you can get your craft on. Their projects are an amazing way to add personality to your place and are such a fun activity – just grab some wine and invite some girlfriends over and get to crafting.

Two Penny Blue – The Studio : Powder Room Design

I’ve long been designing houses, but to be able to design a shop has long been a dream of mine.  So I am psyched to help outfit the new Two Penny Blue studio and showroom with a look that really reflects the brand and it’s unique identity.  While the demo is underway, I got busy pulling some ideas together for the newly built powder room in the space.  Basing the design on inspiration images full of glossy black paint, brass and graphic elements with a throwback, glamorous feel I came up with this scheme:
Two Penny Blue Powder Room Design Board

Some of the inspiration photos we worked off of (always the best place to start when designing…)

Budget is always a concern and to get the most impact from this small space without spending a ton, the dramatic black wall and graphic penny tile floor are key!  Also, the brass based sink will pop amazingly off the dark paint color. To top it all off, a little ceiling drama in the form of diagonal stripes (wallpaper or painted) that mimic the pattern on the gorgeous Two Penny Blue boxes!

The vintage glamor will be provided by the venetian style mirror (I have this guy in my own bathroom too), an antique-style faucet and a gallery wall made up of various art in vintage gilt frames (find some on eBay for cheap!)

I look forward to sharing the progress of the project as we move forward!
